About the Event

What is the Double? How Does This Work?

On both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, we offer the following distances:

  • Marathon – 4 loops of the 6.55-mile course
  • Half Marathon – 2 loops of the 6.55-mile course
  • 5K – a shortened version of the loop course

Race Day Schedule

Same schedule for both December 31 and January 1 - All races are held in the morning.

  • 6:20 am - 5K packet pickup opens.
  • 6:50 am - 5K packet pickup closes.
  • 7:00 am - 5K start (multiple start corrals with staggered wave start)
  • 7:10 am - Last wave of the 5K starts
  • 7:10 am - Half and Full Marathon packet pickup opens.
  • 8:30 am - Half and Full Marathon packet pickup closes. (We close packet pickup early before the race start because many of our packet pickup volunteers are also running the race. We want them to have time to run to the potty and make their final preparations just like our other participants)
  • 8:20 am - 5K course closes (so must be able to complete the 5K in 1hr10min)

  • 8:40 am – Marathon and Half Marathon start (multiple start corrals with staggered wave start)
  • 8:50 am (approximately) – 5K awards
  • 11:30 am (approximately) – Half Marathon awards
  • 12:25 pm – Those completing their second loop of the marathon (at 13.1 miles) at this time or later will be stopped. We recognize that, at that point, the participant would not be able to finish within the 7 hour time limit. Those unable to complete the full marathon will not be given an official half marathon finish or a half marathon finisher medal since medal quantity is carefully allocated and ordered way in advance.
  • 12:30 pm (approximately) – Marathon awards
  • 2:05 pm – Those completing their third loop of the marathon (at 19.65 miles) at this time or later will be stopped. We recognize that, at that point, the participant would not be able to finish within the 7 hour time limit. Those unable to complete the full marathon will not be given an official half marathon finish or a half marathon finisher medal since medal quantity is carefully allocated and ordered way in advance.
  • 3:40 pm – Course closes. Participants must complete their registered distance (half or full marathon) within the 7 hour time limit.
