HAPPY GLOBAL RUNNING DAY! TENTH ANNUAL New Years Double

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

June 3, 2020 - HAPPY GLOBAL RUNNING DAY! I'm thrilled on this day to let you know that registration for the TENTH ANNUAL New Years Double will open later this month. We are in uncertain times with regard to the future of the pandemic, but I will be making plans that account for it as the world unfolds in this new environment, and I'm hopeful we will have another wonderful year of this event, of celebrating the end of 2020, and getting 2021 off to a brilliant start.

Share with your running buddies so they all know where you'll be ending this year, and then watch for more information soon!

Two days of run events (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day), with beautiful race shirts and finisher medals for everyone. There's also a special perk for those who complete multiple running events over the two days – we know how runners love their bling!

In 2011, this race started as Allen's first half marathon, on New Year's Day; it was small and sold out very early. The race has increased its participant limit each year and still sold out weeks in advance. So get ready for another opportunity to end the year the active way with us, and start the next one in celebration as well!

December 31 – morning New Year’s Eve Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K

Join us as we celebrate the end of a wonderful year. Applaud yourself for completing the year the active way – regardless of whether it was a year where you spent the entire time making running and walking a part of your lifestyle, or you spent the last 8 weeks training for your first 5K! The point is that it was still an active year!

All finishers will receive a finisher medal commemorating that day’s event.

January 1 – morning New Year’s Day Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K

Then come back the next day and celebrate starting the new year the best way possible – the active way! Who could think of a better way to start the new year than with a thousand other runners and walkers?!?

And for locals, this still means you can enjoy ringing in the New Year at midnight. The shorter distance starts early, but the longer distance event has a nice later start time, and it’s conveniently located in Allen with parking right at the start/finish line. So ring in the new year and hop into bed – many of you can still enjoy 6-7 hours of sleep!

All finishers will receive a finisher medal commemorating that day’s event.

New Years Double Challenge Plate

For those who complete certain combinations of events on BOTH days, both New Year’s Eve morning and New Year’s Day morning, there will be a special challenge finisher medal. The Challenge Plate will actually integrate with your two existing individual medals you received at each day’s event.
