Finisher Items

50K, 25K, and 5 Mile finishers will receive a quality wooden finisher medal. 100K and 100 mile finishers receive a distance-specific belt buckle. There is a different belt buckle for 100 milers who finish in under 24 hours.
Mesozoic Maniacs (completing all 3 5-milers) will get a special reward after finishing the last race of the 3.
100 Mile and 100K finishers will receive a belt buckle.
Buckles are ordered months in advance. There is a possibility that with a high finish rate, you may not be able to take home a buckle ON RACE DAY. One will be made available for pictures, and then a buckle will be mailed to you about a month after the race if this occurs (once more buckles are produced). The race will take on the cost of mailing you your buckle in this instance. No matter what, whether it's race day or later, you will receive a buckle for finishing the 100K or 100 miler.
The priority will be that those registered for each distance get that buckle. Those in the 100 miler who complete 100K are more likely to have their buckle mailed to them later if we end up with a lot of drop downs and a lower no-show rate.

Different Belt Buckle Offerings

We have, whoa, FOUR different belt buckle styles available this year! We have a buckle design that debuted for the 2024 race, we debuted a new buckle this year for repeat finishers, and we have a special, upgraded silver-plated buckle available in both a 2024 upgrade version and again a 2026 upgrade version for our repeat finishers!

Standard Buckle Option (No Upgrade Cost)

We designed a new buckle in 2026 because we have such a high percentage of our participants who return for multiple years. Athletes will receive one of the two buckles shown upon finishing. Priority will be given for those who received the past buckle to get the new one! But we will not guarantee a specific buckle style for any given participant.

Upgraded Silver-Plated Finisher Buckle

The standard buckles are beautiful, but for those who want an upgraded buckle, we offer this handcrafted buckle! This is a silver-plated buckle that has the race logo in the center. The buckle measures 3" inches tall by 4" inches wide. The back of the buckle has a hook for your belt hole. It also has a swivel bar to attach to your belt.

Awards

Overall placement and awards will be based on gun time for results.
100 mile runners with completed 100K distance will appear in 100K race results and be eligible for 100K awards as well.
You are only eligible for an award if you complete the course as it is laid out in the order it is meant to be completed.
For race distances held multiple times (25K and 5 Mile), awards will be just for that race start and not combined with other race days/times.
Awards may be mailed later at the athlete's expense. Please check in at Headquarters before you leave if you think you won an award.

Here are the awards in each distance:

Top 3 Overall Male, Female, and Non-Binary*
For the 100 Mile and 100K (larger attendance events): 1st and 2nd place male and female in the following age groups: 00-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-99.
For the 50K, 25K, 5M (smaller attendance events): 1st place male and female in the following age groups: 00-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-99.

There is no prize money. Awards for The Active Joe races are small and will travel well in checked or carry-on luggage.
